Hi Craig. Each time I come to the board it forgets me, even if it is only a few hours later. If I click "login" it remembers my username and password so I just have to click OK but it's odd that the "remember me" option isn't working. Is this a setting or does the site just not like me?

I'm using Firefox if that causes a problem.

I am sorry, but that has been a long-time issue with this board.
I tried for ages to find a fix, but no joy.

No, it's all of us. I used to religiously toggle the little box to remember me next time but have finally come to terms with the fact that it's not going to have any effect on my login process.

What's cool is that my computer at work will remember my previous logins so when I start to type my password it will offer the option so I don't have to retype it. My computer at home is stupid and doesn't seem to be able to do that.

My work computer which only has IE manages to remember the login but I can't bring myself to use IE on my own time :)

I hope this doesn't make the board too hard to use. I deal with the same problem. However it's so much fun to read posts from fans that I don't mind too much. Thank you all for making posts here.

I got a little curious and did a quick search; I found some forum posts for phpBB that suggested it might be a problem with the cookies. According to HttpFox, your cookies have a domain of www.metamorphosisaphla.net. Shouldn't the domain be www.metamorphosisalpha.net? Additionally, the cookiedomain should be .metamorphosisalpha.net (assuming I read the posts correctly). HttpFox doesn't report cookiedomain so I'm not sure if it is correct or not in the cookies.

Does that help any?

Thanks Kerry.

I think I must be missing the point.

You are saying the domain should be www.metamorphosisalpha.net and the cookies should be www.metamorphosisalpha.net. Is that correct?

I honestly thought that was already the case. I may be suffering from a slight case of domestic blindness, but I can't see the issue. Can you explain that a little more or rephrase it?

Thanks very much for the assistance,

Craig J. Brain

it has been staring me in the face for years!!!!!

I have been suffering from sock-puppet ping-bong ball eyes syndrome!

Thankyou so much for pointing that out!

I've changed the settings, please let me know if it works!

It is reporting the correct domain now but still didn't work for me. Let me see what else I can find out. I'm a software developer by trade.

As I understood it, the cookiedomain was a separate value from the serverdomain and was not to contain the "www" of the domain. But I'm not sure that was the correct version of phpBB.

This KB article seemed like it might help...

It looks like your cookie domain should definitely be .metamorphosisalpha.net. Ignore the stuff I said earlier about serverdomain value. I don't think that is a cookie value; I think people were just talking about the server domain being different.

I think we can get this working. I should have peeked at it much sooner.

I suppose it could be HttpFox, but it doesn't appear that the cookie domain is .metamorphosisalpha.net. Did you miss the leading period?

I tried it with the period first. I'll give it another go in a tick.

Again, thanks for the help.

After toying with the _u, _k, and _sid cookies for a bit, I think I may have found a solution. You currently have the cookies marked as Secure. The board does not currently allow SSL (https) connections so you should have the setting disabled ( https://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/fixing ... -settings/ ).

After modifying my own cookie settings, the board remembered me after closing my browser without logging out. However, I am worried that this could just be a result of the session not yet being expired. I still say try the Secure setting and we'll see what happens.

Not a problem. I probably should have peeked at this much sooner. When should I expect my check and/or money order? My consulting rates are very reasonable for the industry ;-)

Kerry,

I take it you aren't talking about the RPG Industry rates :)
