I must have some "cookies" setting wrong on my computer, but I'm finding that any time I open or try to post to a forum I'm being asked to log-in again. When I do the log-in, I always check the "remember me" box, but it still keeps asking.

I hope I figure this out soon, because I know that this raises the frustration level on a board and I tend not to bother to participate on any board where I have to continually log-in again and again. :-(

Is anyone else having a similar problem, or is it an issue with my machine?

Marv,

First off, I've moved this to the Admin area.

Second, I found that I was having the same problem because I my poor old computer kept trying to enter my username and password for the old forums. You could try clearing out your history and cache, and I'll take another look at the cookie settings.

Still frustrating at home, but works fine from work. (That's my incentive not to get any work done, eh?) I think that means it's my computer at home and I'll need to check my settings again.....

I am afraid I have no suggestions for this issue, as I don't think it is anything I can fix.

Just an update to this: what I have experienced recently is that every time I visit the board I have to log in again, even after checking the "stay logged in" box. However, during any one given session I don't seem to have to log in again. This is a big improvement over my previous experience where I would log in almost every time I moved from one page to another.

I'm not sure if I "did anything" or not to reach this status, but it's a lot less frustrating than it used to be. (I did try clearing my cookies, but that meant I had to figure out my passwords for every board I visit. That's a lot of boards and quite a pain in its own way, and I would suggest that one think carefully before clearing them all.)

Marv,

I am in the same boat and must log in every time as well, but usually only the once.
I think it is just the way this software is written - and am hoping that the upgrade (when I return to Australia) will fix that.

Well, it's not a big deal. Just sort of strange. :P

Any updates on this? I mean, I don't mind having to log in (once) each time like I have been, but most of the other boards I frequent manage to retain my profile info so I don't have to log in each visit.

At least it's not making me log in multiple times per visit, like it was when I started the thread. 8-)

Nothing as yet. I have been run ragged since returning to Australia and am looking forward to a few days off.

No biggie. This was more about me being curious rather than frustrated. As I said, I'm no longer having the irritating multiple log-in issues I had with the OP, so it's nothing too pressing. 8-)
