I am inclined to focus on active and contributing members of these forums. If you check the rules, you'll see (point 15) that accounts that haven't been used in a while that have not been used to contribute to these forums will be deleted after 72 hours.

I just popped back in and re-registered after your email blast, Craig. Good to see that things have moved along pretty far since I was here last (prior to the forums move :? ).

Thanks very much for re-joining!

The auto script should delete all accounts with less than 1 post after 72 hrs. I have to make exceptions before running it for people to remain on the board if they haven't posted - and that defeats the purpose of the auto script :) I am trying to keep overheads (time mainly) low for running this board so that I can concentrate on on other projects.

Looks like I should be safe now, at least ;)

I'm replying because, simply, I don't want to be deleted. This is my first registered account here, yet as soon as I was activated, I received a warning that my (non-existent) prior account had been deleted, so I better start posting! I'm not angry, but I don't want to to get deleted. My first substantive post is waiting for moderator approval. Check your PM, Morbius. :-)

An account named "frylock" was created a couple of months ago and deleted because it wasn't used within 72 hrs. I have replied to your PM.

I've often wondered about folks who join boards and then never post. I know that sometimes people just like to lurk, and that some boards only give full access to members, but somehow it just seems odd to join up and then never contribute anything.

On the other extreme, I always wonder about people who join up and then post 30 times per day. Sometimes on boards I see folks with hundreds of posts after only a month or two. Seriously?

Perhaps I'm just grumpy in my old age. :P

It's not just you Marv ;)

We are a tiny forum, and I'd rather have people who have a genuine interest in the game taking part and using the forums than a hundred lurkers who just download what they want and contribute nothing. The beauty of having only active users is that when I gave away copies of THOTH, they went to people who actively support the game (yes, I know that is also my target market, but hey! It's nice to give something back!).

I appreciate enthusiasm for the game, but that kind of posting often leads to disillusion - no admin can afford to spend the time required responding to that many posts, leaving the poster frustrated by the lack of responses.

While we don't have to deal with that sort of thing here, I welcome (and encourage) people to post here, but perhaps no so much as thirty times a day! :)
