Is anyone else experiencing very slow connectivity to this site?

I have broadband and a fast computer and am not having any issues anywhere else.

Thanks.

:)

A couple of hours later . . much better. Hopefully that was a temporary problemo.

[Edit: I may have spoken too soon. After getting a few posts in, random slowness has returned]

Australia (where them host server is located) is currently experiencing hail the size of baseballs in some areas, flooding and massive lightning storms. It may be related to that.

Wow! We experienced a hail storm here in Illinois about 12 years ago that featured baseball sized hail - it did some tremendous damage to homes with aluminum siding. It put nice dents in my gutters and people that had there cars outside and not in the garage sustained serious body damage.

Anyway, thanks for the info ~ it seems much better today!

:)

Actually, the server is usually sluggish for me (USA:Texas). My net connection is 15mbps so that is not the problem. Occasionally, I get some quick response, but usually no.

I also noticed that the website has an option to remember the login/password, it does not. Hmm...

This is a bog-standard installation of phpBB V3 with the only mod being the style. It is on a server based in Australia, run by one of the best (reputedly, at least) in the country. The board software is due for another upgrade shortly, but none of the fixes in the upgrade should impact upon the issues you mention.

I can't account for the speed or login issues with cookies. You get what you pay for, and this software is free ;)

Say, a fellow Texan!

I do occasionally get slowness as well. This system is greased like butter or greased like marmelade, no middle ground.

Craig,

I never understand two words in ten when you start talking about computers and this website. I just want everyone to know that my buddy Craig works extremely hard to deliver this site to all of us. I for one am very appreciative. We wouldn't have a great MA site if it wasn't for Craig.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Gents,

Thanks for the kind words. Things don't always go smoothly here (don't you guys know!), andthe encouragement is appreciated :)
